<description>&lt;div&gt;&lt;strong&gt;July 30th:&lt;/strong&gt; It is with deep regrets that the members of Patetown Volunteer Fire Department announce the passing of retired firefighter Frank &amp;quot;Frankie&amp;quot; Person.&amp;nbsp; Mr. Person, or &amp;quot;Daddy Frank&amp;quot; as he was known around the firehouse spent over fifty years with Patetown Volunteer Fire Department.&amp;nbsp; Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Person family.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br&gt;</description>

<title>Airpacks In Service</title>

<description>&lt;strong&gt;July 28th: &lt;/strong&gt;This week, with the assistance of the Assistance for Firefighter Grant, Patetown Fire Department put fifteen new Scott airpacks into service.&amp;nbsp; These airpacks will update our entire stock of airpacks including masks.&amp;nbsp; Thanks to the AFG for without this grant this would not have happened.</description>

<title>Mutual Aid House Fire</title>

<description>&lt;strong&gt;July 28th:&lt;/strong&gt; At Approximately 1820 Hours Communications alerted Saulston, Faro, and East Wayne Fire to a structure fire in the 5000 block of Wayne Memorial Drive.&amp;nbsp; After a few minutes Saulston Car 2 arrived confirming smoke and flames showing.&amp;nbsp; As units began arriving from Saulston (first due) Communications advised Car 2 that some units were understaffed and thus added Patetown Fire on the alarm.&amp;nbsp; Saulston and Patetown units began extinguishing the fire in the double wide mobile home while additional Faro and East Wayne units setup water supply, manpower, and assisted with fighting the fire.&amp;nbsp; Crews went to work from side Alpha and side Charlie to contain the blaze.&amp;nbsp; Shortly thereafter the fire was marked under control with additional work to perform salvage and overhaul.&amp;nbsp; Units began clearing after the investigation and finishing salvage and overhaul.&amp;nbsp; Saulston Car 2 had the Command and Patetown Car 1 had the interior.</description>

<title>Busy Meeting Night</title>

<description>&lt;strong&gt;June 28th:&lt;/strong&gt; Members began assembling at the firehouse tonight for the normal meeting night with some doing some intense foosball playing and others doing work around the firehouse prior to beginning the Board meeting and training meeting.&amp;nbsp; The meetings were interrupted at approximately 1925 hours for the report of a grill and deck fire in Saulston Fire's first due.&amp;nbsp; Patetown Fire Engine 1, Engine 2, Tanker 1, and Car 1 were en route immediately.&amp;nbsp; As Engine 1 neared the scene Saulston Car 2 and Saulston Engine 1 arrived and cancelled all units as incident could be handled with units on scene.&amp;nbsp; Not more than 10 minutes after returning to the station Patetown units were again put on the street this time for the technical rescue assignment for a person with their hand caught in some type of machine on Mt. Carmel Chuch Road.&amp;nbsp; Engine 1, Truck 10, Brush, and Car 1 were en route immediately.&amp;nbsp; While en route Communications advised that it was a 2 year old with their hand stuck in a computer.&amp;nbsp; Units arrived on scene and used hand tools to free the child.&amp;nbsp; Units cleared within 10 minutes and finally made it back to complete the Board and training meetings.&amp;nbsp; </description>

<title>Room and Contents Fire</title>

<description>&lt;strong&gt;May 24th:&lt;/strong&gt; At approximately 1730 hours (5:30 p.m.) Antioch, Pikeville, and Patetown units were dispatched for the house fire in the neighborhood of Antioch Road near Highway 111.&amp;nbsp; First arriving Antioch units confirmed a working room and contents fire.&amp;nbsp; Units began extinguishing the fire immediately.&amp;nbsp; Patetown and Pikeville units arrived asssiting with extinguishment, forming RIT, establishing water points, and ventilating. Units had a knock on the fire in about fifteen minutes. Overhaul was performed and units began clearing about thirty five minutes after the initial alarm.&amp;nbsp; Antioch Car 1 had the command.</description>

<title>Patetown Fire Department receives federal Assistance to Firefighters Grant</title>

<description>&lt;strong&gt;April 16th:&lt;/strong&gt; Today the federal government awarded the next round of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant.&amp;nbsp; Patetown Fire Department was awarded this grant in the total of $77,663.&amp;nbsp; This grant will go to purchase fifteen (15) Scott airpacks including fifteen spare bottles, fifteen masks, and fifteen voice amplifiers.&amp;nbsp; This will cover new airpacks for our entire fleet of apparatus.&amp;nbsp; Thanks to all the firefighters and friends of the firehouse that put effort in to obtaining this grant.</description>

<title>Passing of Board Member and Former Chief</title>

<title>Building Fire with Exposures</title>

<description>&lt;div&gt;&lt;strong&gt;January 25th:&lt;/strong&gt; Patetown, Belfast, and Pikeville Fire Departments dispatched to an unknown type fire. Patetown Car 1 (Chief) arrived on scene followed by Patetown Engine 1 to find a large older building fully engulfed with fire exposure on a diesel fuel, a gas fuel tank as well as an old house used as a storage building. Units quickly went to work to protect the house and the fuel tanks. Efforts became problematic due to the fire being down a long path and having the extended rain over the past 24 hours. Saulston Fire Department was special called for Tanker Support as 1300 feet of 5 inch had to be layed. Fire extended to the older house but was quickly extended with minor damage. Units controlled the fire and began mop up operations which were extended due to the large amount of storage items in and around building including several bails of hay. Units cleared several hours later after extensive overhaul operations and clean up.&lt;br&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br&gt;</description>

<title>Motor Vehicle Crash Involving Tractor Trailer</title>

<description>&lt;strong&gt;January 19th:&lt;/strong&gt; At approximately 1900 hours Communications alerted Saulston Fire and Wayne County EMS to a motor vehicle crash at Wayne Memorial Drive and Truevine Road.&amp;nbsp; While units were checking en route Communications added Patetown Fire on the alarm for reports of one pinned.&amp;nbsp; Patetown Truck 10 arrived first with the Brush following right behind to find a small SUV versus a tractor trailer.&amp;nbsp; The occupant of the SUV was entrapped but not pinned.&amp;nbsp;Units from Saulston began arriving and assisting with traffic control and manpower.&amp;nbsp; Occupant was freed and turned over to EMS for transport.&amp;nbsp; Units remained on scene for an hour due to the tractor trailer being jack-knifed and on the road way.&amp;nbsp; Patetown Car 1 intiated command which was transferred to Saulston Car 1 upon his arrival.</description>

Chief (Car 3): Danny Scott&lt;br&gt;Captain (Portable 4): Lyman Peaden&lt;br&gt;Captain (Portable 5): David Taylor&lt;br&gt;Lieutenant (Portable 6): John Edmundson&lt;br&gt;Lieutenant (Portable 7): Shawn Harris&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Congratulations to the officers.&lt;/div&gt;</description>
